So this section really was made up entirely of shiny Pokémon! And this one was so cute. He was pretty sure his grandparents had sent him pictures of something like this from Alola. What was it called? Stuffing?

They pulled out their Rotom phone, lining up the camera to take a few photos of their own. Through the lens they watched the little cub turn towards them with a curious look, teeter onto its hind legs-

And charge.

Locke fell back with a yelp, dropping their phone to the ground in their panicked attempt to get away. The device crackled and sparked where it lay, Roto-Roto’s face appearing on the screen briefly to give their trainer a look of open disgust. Then, just as the wild bear was about to pass over it, the phone exploded with electrical Discharge until the cub was left twitching in the grass, thoroughly knocked out.

They still tossed a Pokéball at it though. Just in case.

A golden sparkle in a nearby pond caught Locke’s attention. A Nugget, perhaps? Maybe their luck was turning around after all!

They rolled up their sleeve and reached into the water, fishing around for the lucky find. It slipped through their fingers once-twice-there! Got it! With a triumphant noise, Locke raised their prize in the air and were met with the empty stare of a Luvdisk.

He gave it a sheepish smile.

It Soaked him with a small spray of water.

A few drops landed on the screen of his phone, and the annoyed buzz that followed was all the warning he needed to drop the fish before Roto-Roto unleashed another Discharge on the poor Pokémon, barely managing to spare himself.

”Ya know you’re only supposed to do that when I tell ya to, right?” Locke complained as he tapped the unconscious Pokémon with a Pokéball.

The complaint, as always, fell on deaf ears.

Well, if Roto-Roto wasn’t going to stop electrocuting everything that got within ten feet of them, Locke could at least make sure they were healed afterwards. With an exasperated sigh, he summoned his Blissey and hoped she might be more agreeable.

No sooner than Hapi-Hapi appeared, however, a Happiny burst out of the bushes and raced towards the older Pokémon. It stopped a foot or two from the Blissey and stared up at her curiously.

Hapi-Hapi raised an arm and the Happiny mirrored the motion.

She lifted one leg and the baby Pokémon copied that too.

She spun around and around and the Happiny followed until it couldn’t anymore, falling dizzily to the ground. Hapi-Hapi waddled over and picked it up, waving it around in the air gleefully before putting it in her pouch, where it seemed quite content to stay.

Things seemed to calm down after the Happiny had settled in, and Locke could actually enjoy a nice walk along the safari’s main path. The variety of terrain was impressive, like walking through a mini version of the region.

There were signs posted along the path that went into more detail on the environments on display, and some of the Pokémon native to them. One such sign however, located at the edge of a colorful meadow, came with an extra warning.



Locke immediately checked their pockets and, sure enough, their phone had completely disappeared. There were a few frantic moments where they glanced around the field, growing more and more panicked by the second, until a familiar flash of electricity caught the corner of their eye.

There, not too deep into the meadow, was their phone, with Roto-Roto fully outside of it now and looking down at a silver Eevee with disgust.

”Okay. You. You deserved that.”
